The Bayreuth Festival

What is the Bayreuth Festival?

The Bayreuth Festival was founded in 1876 by Richard Wagner himself. Since then, it has been dedicated exclusively to the works of the composer: a unique concept worldwide.

The Festival Theatre on the Green Hill, also built according to Wagner's plans, is still regarded as an acoustic masterpiece today. The productions are known for the highest artistic quality, innovative directorial concepts and a special closeness to Wagner's musical legacy.

The festival is organised every summer and is still closely linked to the Wagner family, who play a central role in the artistic direction.
